Dixon's Apple Orchard

This land is known for growing integrity and character. Apples, too.

Hello Apple Eaters!
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Dixon’s Apple Orchard has had a year like no other!
We’ve been through Freeze, Fire, and Floods.
But we are excited to offer you a very small crop this year.

The recent Floods have left our orchard unsafe for you, our customers to enter. Therefore Harvest will NOT be at our orchard, but will be ONE DAY ONLY at The C Store Parking Lot, a convenience store in Cochiti Lake. If you have visited our orchard in previous years, you’ve driven right by the C Store on your way through Cochiti Lake! Please watch for our signs to guide you in.

This ONE DAY of Harvest is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th, from 8AM-5PM.
If we are not sold out by the end of that Saturday, we will re-open at that same location on Sunday, the 25th at 8AM, staying open until we sell out.

This is BAG YOUR OWN Apples, and only 1 bag per customer is permitted.
Each customer must be present!
Each ½ bushel bag is $20.
Each peck bag is $10.
We Will accept Cash or Check ONLY. No Credit Cards!

No Gift Boxes will be sold.
We cannot take Pre-Orders, and we cannot ship any apples.

Thank you and we hope to see you on September 24th!

The Year that was…

2011 is already what we here at Dixon’s Apple Orchard are calling “The Year That Was.”

First came the severe Spring Freezes that destroyed 95% of our apple crop.
Come June we were still waiting for rain, which hadn’t fallen on the orchard in nearly a year. The earth all around us has been so dry for so very long. Our worst fear was Fire.

Sadly, on June 27th at 2AM, the Los Conchas Wildfire swept through our orchard, destroying our home and many of our buildings, plus 300 of our apple trees. Most devastating of all, the beautiful forest of Cochiti Canyon where our orchard resides was destroyed. What once was majestic forest is now barren, ash-ridden rock and dust. Having no protection of forest has left us victim to floods. Currently we are fighting relentlessly to save our orchard.

We still hold out hope to harvest what little we have this September.

We are thankful to you, our loyal customers, who’ve shown us outstanding support, through your prayers, posts, and generosity during this devastating time. You, our customers, are the reason we continue to fight.

Our opening date changes every year! So be certain to revisit this page at the beginning of September or call us for the announcement!  Mid-September is harvest time. Or as we like to say, "It’s crunch time." There’s nothing quite like biting into a Dixon's Apple fresh off the tree. With Champagne, Sparkling Burgundy, Red Rome and Red Delicious apples, it’s hard to decide which to devour first. We will also let you know what varieties we have before you come up, as they are not all ready at the same time!
